Golden Spruce Capital was launched in 2016 as a partnership-focused private equity management firm. As business builders, owners, and investors, we deeply understand the importance of one's legacy, asset concentration inside a business and succession challenges.
We aim to form great partnerships in great businesses that solve these three issues while investing in the continued success and growth of the business.

Meet the team
Sam Restagno,
Managing Partner

Sam founded Golden Spruce Capital in 2016 and acts as a Managing Partner. He leads the acquisition and diligence efforts and supports portfolio company operators.
Prior to founding GSC, Sam led deal sourcing for Dentalcorp, a large Canadian healthcare roll-up. Before Dentalcorp, Sam worked in investment banking with RBC, advising on capital raises, acquisitions and dispositions across North America.
Sam has a BMOS from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. In his spare time, when Sam isn’t spending time with his family, he’s likely running, reading, losing in a chess game or experimenting in the kitchen.
Mark Wires,
Managing Partner

Mark is a Managing Partner at Golden Spruce Capital. He is responsible for supporting portfolio company operators in strategic design and execution.
While practicing law, Mark represented both large Canadian corporations and entrepreneur-run businesses. Departing the legal profession, Mark founded, scaled, and exited a successful sports tourism and education business. Before joining GSC he was responsible for investments and portfolio company growth at a Toronto-based family office.
Mark has a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from Bowling Green State University and a JD and MBA from Bond University. Mark splits his time between family, staying active and reading.
